KENT GAISFORD
Gaisford, a retired Graphic and Instructional Designer, now spends his time enjoying the bounty of the Napa Valley--biking, motorcycling, dining, and playing his horn.
Having started trumpet at age 10, Gaisford studied with Edward Haug, principal trumpeter with the SF Symphony/Opera orchestras, in high school. In college he was a proud member of the Cal Marching Band (Go Bears!), and he has studied with Brian Switzer (Train, SF Bohemian Club) and Santana’s own Bill Ortiz.
With a musical style covering several genres, Gaisford was formerly lead trumpeter for the Funk/Jazz/Rock group, Bay Bridge Beat, and is currently lead/principal trumpet for St. Helena Community Band, St. Helena JazzCombo/Dixieland Band, and the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra at Pacific Union College.
Gaisford has contributed his musical talents to several local musical productions, under the direction of Craig Bond: Fiddler on the Roof, Newsies, and Oklahoma!, and most recently was principal trumpet for the PUC production of Jericho Road.
Gaisford has been part of PCA since 2023.
